ACE SONOMA

A Message from the ACE School Director

Dear ACE Families,

We hope you and your family are soaking up some well-earned rest and relaxation this summer! We are already looking forward to kicking off a brand-new school year on Monday, August 17th.

Before the first day sneaks up on us, here is everything you need to know to get ready for the year ahead.

School Year Calendar:  26-27 ACE Sonoma School Calendar

Classroom Updates

You’ll see some familiar faces in new spaces this year:

  • Ms. Kiana is bringing her experience from Room 27 over to Room 8.

  • Ms. Becca and Ms. Nicole are both stepping into exciting new roles this year—after team-teaching with other teachers this past school year, they will each be leading their own classrooms (Ms. Becca in Room 27 and Ms. Nicole in Room 42)!

  • Ms. Tori is moving over to Building C, Room 85. This feels a bit like full circle, as she will be taking over Ms. Alicia’s class who she team-taught with when she first started at Anova!

A Fond Farewell: Speaking of Room 85, Ms. Alicia retired this summer after so many years of pouring her heart into our students. We wish her absolutely the best in her next chapter!

A Heartfelt Goodbye & A New Beginning

Our facility dog Larry has been so much more than just a school dog; he has been woven into the very fabric of our campus. As a comforting presence through all the ups and downs (and we have had many of them), he has touched countless lives with his calm energy, gentle spirit, and unwavering love. It is truly hard to imagine Anova without him. Most service dogs work until about age 8 or 9 and Larry turned 13 in March so the time has come for him to hang up his vest and retire. We will miss him but he has earned every bit of his retirement which will consist of long naps in the sun and lots of cuddles and love. I know he means a lot to so many of our students and I thank you deeply for loving him as much as I do.

What’s next? Jack won’t be on his own for long! Right after ESY, I am heading to Oregon to train with a new facility dog who has already been matched with our school. While I don't have all the details just yet, we can't wait to introduce our newest team member to the community. Stay tuned!
